MECHANIZMO DALIS
Šiame cirko karavane šokinėja visi.
Vieni aukštyn šoka, laukan iššoka kiti.
Karuselė sukas, moterys išpakuotos,
tiesas apšviesti, ką reik - nukryžiuoti.
Užsimoję į erelio skrydžio aukštį,
kur šis švariom plunksnom išlikti galįs.
Stebisi: „vis dar aš laisvas paukštis?
O gal tik mechanizmo dalis.
Kinko dengtus vežimus – vakaruosna kurnės.
Politikų vežas' šventinio rūbo pilnas kišenes.
Kad vertę įgaut ranką spaudžia, vaiką bučiuoja,
žada aukso kalnus, žemėje rojų.
Vis suka ratus plikagalvis erelis
Ne pirmas kartas kai regi vėl jis
nekaltumo akyse atspindį savo.
Jis dabar dar viena mechanizmo dalis.
Norėčiau erelį kaip jūsų turėt,
kad aukštyn žiūrėt.
Skraidintų tie sparnai po jo dangų aukštai

Svarstau, kodėl Ianas Andersonas išbrokavo šią dainą ir atmetė jos kandidatūrą albumui "Crest of a Knave". Manau logiškas paaiškininmas yra toks: albume jau yra politizuotų dainų, tokių kaip Jump Start, Farm on the Freeway, Dogs in the Midwinter, Mountain Men bei iš dalies alegoriškoji Raising Steam, tad dar viena sunkiasvorė rinkimų peripetijomis prifarširuota daina apsunkins ir taip sudėtingo teksto albumą. Beje, pirmuose LP leidiniuose nebuvo įtrauktos ir Waking Edge bei Dogs in the Midwinter. Mano ausiai pastaroji nusileidžia šiai. "Part of the Machine" buvo išleistas kaip 5 dainų EP reklamuojantis "20 years of Jethro Tull" ir prasmego niekieno nepastebėtas. Gavau remasrterį su šia daina kaip bonus ir likau sužavėtas jos tikimu šiam albumui.
