Vokalistas Danielius Gildenlow‘as sako, kad daina "Linoleum" buvo pirmas ir be konkurencinis pasirinkimas įtraukti ją į albumą. Jis priduria: "Man patinka šio gyvulio universalumas, ir aš nuolat jį įtempiu į skirtingus kontekstus, kad sužinočiau, kaip jis prisitaikys ir reaguos.
"Man patinka žaisti su tramdomo siautėjimo emociniu spektru muzikoje ir dainų tekstuose, ir šios dainos akustinės versijos sukūrimas pareikalavo tikrai didelių iššūkių, kai reikėjo rasti tobulą balansą tarp prislopintų subtilybių ir staigaus emocijų proveržio demonstravimo. Patiko, kaip tai pasireiškia dainos pabaigoje".
"Manau, kad terminas „akustinis albumas“ yra labai klaidinantis. Šis albumas toks pat drąsus pareiškimas, kaip bet kuris kitas mūsų albumas, jame taip pat siūlome juoką, ašaras, staigmenas ir iššūkius. Jei jis ne originalus, jei jis nėra vienareikšmiškai aistringas, tada tai ne Pain of Salvation albumas".
