when it goes blank what does that all mean?
And what's the drive of each individual?

Is it Mr. X left as the last residual
holder of the flame, causcience of all men?

pH 7 - neutralus rūgštingumas, o Piteris Hamilis septyniasdešimtųjų pabaigoje man kaip koks acid art nešėjas muzikoje. Misteris X (ne operetės herojus) turi fortepioninę loop frazę, kuri didesnę dainos dalį išlieka nekintanti ir veikia kaip rišamoji gana laisvo iki chaotiško muzikavimo konstanta, beje, kiek varijuojančio tempo . Nuo 2:50 toji frazė jau skamba kitoje tonacijoje, bet jos paskirtis išlieka ta pati - tai ašis, apie kurią sukasi kosminės Hamilio skeveldros, paranojiškos baimės dėl žmonijos išlikimo kataklizmo akivaizdoje.

Man pH7 yra brangus albumas, vienas mėgstamesnių PH albumų, bet jo paskutinės kompozicijos, savo eksperimentine natūra apeliuojančios į praeitą darbą The Future Now, man būdavo gan didelė kliūtis, aš jų vengdavau. Prieš kokį pusmetį ar metus pagavau save besimėgaujantį eklektiška Imperial Walls atmosfera. O šiandien užsidėjau pH7 diską iš naujausio Virgin/Charisma Recordings boxset'o. Ir taip jau nutiko, kad iš visų kompozicijų emociškai daugiausiai savęs investavau į būtent Mr X (Gets Tense). Niekada anksčiau nesu lingavęs į šios dainos taktą. Dabar jau turiu pripažinti, kad PH čia labai įtikinamai vis didina įtampą, kol kūrinys tyčia išvažiuoja iš bėgių – tas jo totalinis kolapsas 5-oje minutėje ir yra tokia kulminacija, kokios šis kūrinys prašosi. Graham'o Smith'o smuikavimas nuostabus šioje kompozicijoje.
Vertinau 8-etu, bet jaučiu pareigą dabar pakelti bent iki 9-eto. Aš manau, kad aš įžengiu į naują fazę, kai pradedu pagauti net didžiausius PH eksperimentus. Tad tikrai netolimoj ateityje bandysiu iš naujo atakuoti The Future Now, Loops & Reels ir panašius PH eksperimentus, kurių iki šiol nesupratau.
