Melt was recorded in a variety of international locations including Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, USA, Spain, Germany, Iceland, Australia and the UKwhilst band members travelled independently and documented their experience. The music combines field recordings from these locations and original recordings with raresoul and psychedelic samples.
The New York Times described Melt as
