50 Cent - 2003-ųjų metų atradimas. Po to, kai muzikos pasaulį sudrebino skandalingasis baltaodis reperis Eminem'as, nieko tokio stulbinančio nematėme ir, atrodė, ilgai nebematysime. Tačiau tas pats Eminem'as, pagalbon pasitelkęs kultinį repo prodiuserį Dr.Dre, iš pogrindžio ištraukė reperį Curtis'ą Jackson'ą - rodos jau užgesusią žvaigždę. Devynis kartus peršautas, kreką pardavinėjęs juodaodis vaikinas, liepos šeštąją švesiantis savo 27-ąjį jubiliejų, yra sakęs: "Kai kalbu su žmonėmis, dėl kažkokios keistos priežasties jie mano, jog aš mirsiu, o jie ne. Bet tu žinai, ką? Man mirtis nieko nereiškia".
Iki tol nesėkmingai bendradarbiavęs su įrašų kompanija Columbia Records, jis sugrįžo vedamas Eminem'o leidybinės firmos "Shady Records".

Pirmuoju 50 Cent slapyvardžiu prisidengusio reperio singlu tapo daina In Da Club, kurią šiuo metu, ko gero, žino kiekvienas nors kiek besidomintis muzika. Šis kūrinys pristatė 2003-ųjų vasarį pasirodžiusį debiutinį reperio albumą "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'", kuris šiuo metu vien Jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose yra parduotas daugiau nei keturių milijonų kopijų tiražu.
