In livery, of grey and green
Merlin roar,
The fastest climb they ever saw…

Heroes were made and now they’re dead

Part 2- I Just Wanted to Fly

It’s closer to the day
Closer now I say
Closer to the day were I must start to pray

Enemy above, formation in the clear
Up into the cloud engage them from the rear

Diving down to fight, courage in my throat
I open up with fire
My end feels really near.

Up into the sky, in the corner of my eye
I’m here to bring you down
I’m fighting for the crown
I’m closing on your tail
I really must not fail
Don’t look me in the eye
You know that you must die
I fly so high, I feel the sky
I fly so high, not going to die

I can hear the children play
With wooden toys made like my plane
Now the war has gone away
But my memory remains
It’s been so long since I could fly
I want to do it all again
Sometimes I think I should have die
When I dream about the sky
I fled the modern world so hard to understand
I just wanted to fly…
