Something's living here
Knocking at the walls
Scratching at the wood
From the other side
My spine's a weathervane
Spinning every way
My hands cannot be cooled
These are not my eyes
A stranger's eyes
Hidden things are guiding us
Hidden things are driving us
Dividing us, in spite of us
Put our trust in hidden things
Something's living here
Between fingertips and bowl
I feel it late at night
When my spirit's low
It's living in my mirror
It's tangled in my hair
It's getting into fights
When I'm not there
A stranger's there
Hidden things are guiding us
Hidden things are driving us
Dividing us, in spite of us
Put our trust in hidden things
All our trust in hidden things
Try to run the demon down
Find the witch, and banish her
No friends, just common enemies
Summoning the monsters that we deserve
Hidden things live inside of us
Hidden things animating us
Hidden things are guiding us
Hidden things parading us
So, with all the demons hanging round
I remind myself to have a plan:
Resist, if I can, the urge to understand
With only words or sleight of hand
Nor use my thoughts
Be strong, and surrender
Do not seek to parlay
To justify, patronise, nor educate
Do not speculate why
And if you can't
Don't apologise
Don't be made to engage
Don't get enraged
Don't react
Don't react
Don't react
