In the circle of those who died violent deaths and without last rites but repentant, Italian soldier Buonconte di Monfeltro tells the tale of how he got taken to Purgatory by an angel after dying from a mortal wound. In crying for forgiveness, the demon is angry the angel stole his victim's soul so he makes the river sweep Monfeltro's body away so it can't be found.
