Dante sees the third and fourth circles which contain the gluttonous and the greedy respectively. The gluttonous are rained on by human feces and get eaten by Cerberous. The avaricious and prodigal (greedy hoarders and squanderers) have to lug around heavy bags of riches. They also meet Plutus (aka Pluto or Hades). Pluto and Hades are both known as god of the underworld, but Plutus is known as the god of wealth so it's fitting for Dante to make him a demon guarding the fourth circle.
