HOWARD DONALD believes ROBBIE WILLIAMS may be gay.
Howard, who spent five years with the singer in TAKE THAT, claims: “Robbie just doesn’t know what he is. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was gay.”
Howard also slams Robbie for his boozy partying at the time of the 1995 Glastonbury Festival when he went on stage with OASIS.
Robbie quit Take That shortly afterwards and the group split the next year. Howard calls his bandmate “tosserish” and a “lazy b*****d”.
Now a club DJ, Howard speaks out on the documentary The Real Take That this Sunday on Channel 4.
Speculation has always been rife about Robbie’s sexuality and friendship with former You’ve Been Framed! presenter JONATHAN WILKES.
Take That, Take That, Take That was all you heard a few years ago when the subject was pop music. As thought by most people Take That didn't last but they did leave two legacys ; one of these was the opening of the market for other boy bands to come in and exploit it and are still doing it stronger than ever to this day. But the other legacy was one that people belived could never prosper or survive. The legacy was Robbie Williams, the wild child of Take That who was thrown out by it's members citing reasons of drug abuse and pure craziness.
This was to be the biggest motivation in the career of Robbie who's nemises was Gary Barlow who seemed to front the pushing out of the rebel. A couple of years were spent in the wilderness with time mainly being taken up by late night partying and heavy drug indulging. Nobody remembered who Robbie was when he released his first solo single, a cover of George Michaels "Freedom". It was not the hit he expected it to be, but his name was circulating in the music industry again, only at low key measures though. His next venture into the search for success was a release of his second solo single "South of the Border". This song was written by Robbie himself, but it was a different style of music that would have been related to Robbie, it was more like Oasis rather than the poppy sounds of Take That. A few more singles were to follow which were moderate hits but they gained him respect and a base to build from, the pick of the bunch being"Old Before I Die".
Towards the end of 1997 Robbie was to release a single and since then he hasn't looked back, the single was titled "Angels". It was a massive number 1 and from then on people saw Robbie Williams differently, his song writing abilities were seen fully by the moving lyrics and slow melody of "Angels". His follow up to this was another massive success "Let Me Entertain You". His first solo album "Life Through A Lens" went into number 1 after 28 weeks in chart wilderness, he was people's favorite artist but not only teenage girls were becoming dedicated fans, people of all sexes and ages were starting hop on the Robbie bandwagon.
Some time passed and people were anxious for Robbie to release some new material........................he replied. "Milleneum" was released in mid 1998, if you hadn't been convinced by Robbie's early releases then this song would convert you. It went straight into number 1and stayed there for many weeks. To follow he released "No Regrets" and "Strong", both becoming big hits. His next album was called "I've Been Expecting You" which shot straight to number 1 and confirmed Robbie Williams cannot be stopped.
Recently he took up a challenge that nearly all failed before him......to break into America. He decided to release an album which combined the best materials from his two previous albums. This ultimate album is called "The Ego Has Landed" and he smashed into the American market like a hot knife into butter. Recently he played the biggest concert of his career at Slane Castle in Ireland in front of and audience of 80,000 people and an additional massive tv audience. It was deemed one of the best concerts in living memory.
